Agri people

The Agri were an ancient people dwelling along the Palus Maeotis in antiquity. They are described as living among the Maeotae, Sindi, Dandarii, Toreatae, Arrechi, Tarpetes, Obidiaceni, Sittaceni, Dosci, and Aspurgiani, among others.
This community is spread all over India, especially in Maharashtra state. The population of this community is thick in Thane and Raigad district. Their language is known as "Agri" language which is mixture of marathi, sanskrit, hindi, english and kannada language.The agri language is a unique language, pleasent to hear and feels commedy that is why few writers starts to include this agri characters in their plays to increase commedy and fun in their plays.
Most of the agri people are engaged in farming and trade. Now lots of people playing their roll in indian politics also few of them are Ganesh Naik, and his both son's of Navi Mumbai,Jagannath Patil Dombivali(Loksabha sadasya in 2004-2009) Yogesh Ramesh Patil former MLA of Bhiwandi, Rupesh Mhatre current MLA of Bhiwandi east region, Devraj K. Mhatre President of thane district Rural region, Prakash K. Mhatre Cheif of Bhiwandi taluka rural region, Kapil Patil(Zilla Parishad Kon-Pimplas region), Girish V. Mhatre (Panchayat Samiti Kon-Pimplas Region).
Agri community also give philosopher's too, to india amongst them is "DADA Gavand" who wrote many books. Dadaji is a sage philosopher. His best book is "Beyond the mind" and its Hindi edition "Mukt Jivan Ki Or" which was first published in USA then in india.
A agri person named Machhindra Barkya Mhatre founder of NGO "TARUN BHARAT SAMAJ SEVA SANSTHA" This NGO provide the free computer education to all poor people in Bhiwandi region.

Agri's have thick population in Mumbai and Thane region. Agri's and Koli's are considered as the natives of Mumbai. Agri's were mainly involved in farming, fishing, and cultivating salt. The Agri community has evolved over years. After industrialization in Mumbai and its surroundings, the property rates were sky rocketing, this is when the people from Agri community started selling off their land for good and easy money.
